Suzhou University
Suzhou University is a university located in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China. The university is part of China’s Project 211 and is a key comprehensive university under Jiangsu Province.
Suzhou University was originally founded in 1900 through the merger of three institutions: Po-hsi Academy, Kung-hsiang Academy, and Chung-hsi Academy. After several historical developments and mergers, the university officially adopted the name Suzhou University in 1982. Over the years, Suzhou Medical College and other institutions were merged into the university, strengthening its medical education system.
After 1949, alumni who moved to Taiwan established another Suzhou University in Taipei, which later developed into a full-fledged university.
Clinical Medicine is one of the strongest specialties at Suzhou University and ranks among the top medical disciplines in China. The School of Medicine includes departments such as Pre-clinical Medicine, Pharmacology, Clinical Medicine, Pediatrics, Medical Imaging, and Nursing. Currently, more than 500 international students are enrolled in the MBBS program, with a large number of students from India. The faculty regularly aligns the curriculum with international medical education standards.
The university has several national and provincial key disciplines and numerous scientific research institutions and laboratories. The MBBS program taught in English has been offered since 2004 and was officially approved by the Ministry of Education in 2008.
Suzhou University is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools. Graduates of the MBBS program are eligible to appear for medical licensing examinations in various countries.
